The only reason why this guy may not be an all time great is because of the lack of longevity factor! Terrific work-ethic, a man for crisis, tough as nails and a true gentleman from an era in Australian Cricket (when it was not really popular for that) Hussey is one of my favorite players of all time! Talk about going out on top! This is another big loss for Australian Cricket!
Thanks Michael Hussey. You are a truly great player. What a test average. I am sorry that you never played under Steve Waugh in a test team. At least you managed a few games with Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist etc. I shall never forget that you were a part of that incredible win against England in Adelaide in 2006 -and there were many other terrific achievements from you in the sport. With you leaving "on top" - this will add to the memory of your wonderful record. It is a pity that you could not or did not play for Australia before 2005. Again, thanks for being a really wonderful player, and a great human being. I loved the way you have been called "Mr Cricket".
A true champion who put up hard yards at domestic levels. 10 K plus first class runs and then wearing the baggy green shows the solid foundation of Aussie domestic structure and the quality in the ranks. A man with grit and determination who did well in all the three formats. Adieu Mr Cricket- Cricket will miss your whole hearted commitment, tenacity and the old school gentleman approach. A coaching assignment for Team India give it a thought.

Your team is NO WHERE near even a county team from England, let alone competing with the likes of Pakistan or any other test team for that matter. You have been battered and battered and battered again for the past 13 years, while we hear the word "Improvement" all the time. Apart from 1 (ONE!!!!!!) match in 1999 WC, what do you have to show against Pakistan? Yes Pakistan is not safe for touring, but that cannot be a surprise factor for BCB - AFTER they had made a commitment. I want to see 1 team, any team in the world, being half as good as Pakistan, while not being able to play on homesoil! ECB may be the father figure of cricket and BCCI maybe the financial power house, but it's Pakistan cricket which is entertaining millions of cricket fans across the globe.

He was the sole reason i would watch cricket...Gonna really miss his superb cover drives and pull shots....There is a lesson to be learnt for every young cricketer from HUssey which is to never give up...The kind of work ethic the guy has and the phenomenal team spirit can't be matched...You are a legend Mike and you deserve a good rest for all your service not only to Australia but to the the game of cricket. Can't find a better human being in this world as well which is why he's my idol...Very sad indeed to see him go :(

They choose to retire, when they r on top and making runs/taking wickets.. Taylor, Waugh brothers, Mcgrath, Warne, Hayden, Gilchrist, Ponting and now HUSSEY.. GREAT..

Posted byYes, the complete package. Shocking announcement, but he came into the team on others' terms and should be able to leave on his own terms. With Australia, there was always the feeling 'there is still Hussey' - as if he was a hurdle that would need to be crossed before any team could think of bowling Australia out.
