Bangladesh to play T20s in Netherlands

ESPNcricinfo staff

Bangladesh will get more matches to fine-tune their World Twenty20 preparations after it was announced that they will play two Twenty20s in Netherlands next month. One match will be against the home side, and the other against Scotland during a five-day stay in Netherlands following their tour of Ireland. The matches will be played at Voorburg Cricket Club near The Hague, on 24 and 25 July.

There has been no international cricket in Netherlands since a couple of ODIs against Kenya last September, and no Test-playing nation has played there since Sri Lanka visited in 2006. "We are delighted to have secured the opportunity to host a Full Member country on home soil as it has been some time since this last happened," Cricket Netherlands CEO Richard Cox said.

Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim also welcomed the extra matches. "The Twenty20 game is a great leveller and our matches against Netherlands and Scotland should be very interesting," he said. "Netherlands have beaten England in a World Twenty20 game and Scotland have some fine players."

Challenge a full strength team? BD just beat full strength num 1 team IND and SL. And dear lord David, really dude, you are now getting annoying. SA could not play since their schedule are packed. SA playing BD anyways, from mid June in ZIM. Please don't make ridiculous comments about BD. Educate yourself with fact first. Peace!

Talk is cheap lets prove it to the critics on field....we need consistently prove our worth and eventually they will have to accept it.

some of the comments below are very funny indeed. BD may not be up there with the best but any true commentator will tell you NEVER write off Bangladesh. History has shown on any given day that they have beaten the better teams. Of course Indian fans must be burning seeing Bangladesh do so CONSISTENTLY well in the Asia Cup and booted India out once again - (it has to hurt especially if the same Indian fans are now criticising BD).

OF course many of the teams don't want to play BD its a lose lose situation. If they win they will argue it means nothing and if they lose then they feel that they get embarrassed internationally. It's only in tournaments where they are forced to play BD that we see proper results. BD are now preparing for the T20 World Cup. Criticise and make your excuses after that tournament.

Bangladesh is the lowest skilled team in the bunch of status teams. It is not doing any favor to associate teams, it needs a lot of practice before it can really challenge any major team.

To be honest regarding this match. the current Netherlands team (with imported players) - 70% and 30% to Bangladesh is the chancing of winning. And if it were a real Dutch team then, Bang - 95 and Neth 5%.

people are getting confused..bangladesh isnt helping any associates teams, its just that no other full member team wants to play bangladesh which is why they're requesting and playing games against ireland and co. Most recent example is when south africa declined to play them. i rest my case.
