Saeed Ajmal has been named in the Pakistan A squad for their remaining two home games against Kenya in Lahore. Ajmal had been banned from bowling in international matches by the ICC due to an illegal action, but since the Kenya games do not hold international status, he is allowed to feature in them, as well as in any form of domestic cricket.
Since his ban, Ajmal has been undergoing rehabilitation for his bowling action in various labs and indoor practice areas. A recent unofficial test at the Loughborough University found Ajmal's action for his stock delivery, the offspinner, as well his faster balls to be legal. His action for the doosra, though, was still not below the permissible 15-degree limit. However, it is believed that Ajmal's primary target is to get himself cleared as an offspinner before the World Cup.
Ajmal had initially been set for an official test before the ICC on December 8, but it was later postponed by the PCB, meaning his reassessment will not happen before December 31. The PCB illegal bowling committee, headed by Iqbal Qasim, was keen that Ajmal play some competitive cricket to get used to his remodelled action before going for a final ICC assessment. Ajmal has been playing club cricket in Faisalabad since returning from England.
