He became the third Zimbabwean after Andy Flower (4830 in 160) and Grant Flower (4299 in 144) and 40th batsman overall to do so.By taking 148 matches and 144 innings to achieve this landmark, Campbell became the slowest Zimbabwean to do so. Grant and Andy Flower had taken 130 and 136 matches respectively for their 4000 runs.The hundred was Campbell's fifth in his career. He has now scored maximum hundreds for Zimbabwe surging ahead of Neil Johnson who had a tally of 4 hundreds from 48 matches. It was the third hundred by a Zimbabwean against New Zealand. Of these Campbell has scored two.Campbell has now aggregated 814 runs in 20 matches against New Zealandmost by a Zimbabwean. He surpassed fellow teammate Andy Flower's aggregate of 685 runs from 22 matches.The 91 run-partnership between Campbell and Stuart Carlisle for the second wicket was Zimbabwe's best for this wicket against New Zealand. This obliterated the previous record stand of 85 between Grant Flower and Guy Whittall at Auckland on 28-01-1996.The 47 run-partnership between Gavin Rennie and Heath Streak was Zimbabwe's best for this wicket against New Zealand. This surpassed the previous record stand of 34 between Stuart Carlisle and Streak at Wellington on 31-01-1996.Nathan Astle on 64, completed his 4000 runs in ODIs . He became the second New Zealander after Martin Crowe (4704 in 183) and 41st batsman overall to do so. Astle took 123 matches and 120 innings to do so.For the second time in ODI history two batsmen were completing their 4000 runs in the same match. The only other such instance was in the match between England and Pakistan at Lord's on 22-08-1992. The batsmen concerned were Salim Malik for Pakistan and Allan Lamb for England.Mathew Sinclair (85) playing in his fifth match made his highest score. His previous highest was only 19 made against Australia at Auckland on 03-03-2000.The 153 runpartnership between Mathew Sinclair and Nathan Astle was New Zealand's best for the opening wicket against Zimbabwe obliterating the previous highest of 147 between Astle and LG Howell at Napier on 06-03-1998.The partnership is also the highest for New Zealand for any wicket against Zimbabwe nosing ahead of 152 run-partnership between Craig Spearman and Roger Twose for the third wicket at Harare on 27-09-2000.The partnership was also the third highest for opening wicket for New Zealand in all ODIs. Only 158 runpartnership between John Wright and Martin Crowe against Bangladesh at Sharjah on 28-04-1990 and 155 runpartnership between Bryan Young and Nathan Astle against Pakistan at Mohali on 09-05-1997 exceeded this partnership for the first wicket.The victory margin of 8 wickets was the third largest for New Zealand against Zimbabwe. New Zealand had beaten Zimbabwe by nine wickets at Napier in 1997-98 and by 8 wickets at Wellington on 1997-98.The win was New Zealand's first after six consecutive defeats.Mathew Sinclair won his maiden Man of the Match award.
