  • The third wicket stand of 110 runs between Stephen Fleming and Roger Twose is New Zealand's best for this wicket against South Africa. This obliterates the previous record stand of 72 between Nathan Astle and Twose which was recorded at Centurion just two days ago.
  • Allan Donald's figures (5-0-46-0) are the third most expensive by a South African bowler in a five over spell after Jacques Kallis' 5-0-50-0 against Pakistan at Durban on 03-04-1998 and Nantie Hayward's 5-0-47-1 against Sri Lanka at Galle on 06-07-2000
  • Donald's figures are also the most expensive by a bowler in a five over spell against New Zealand obliterating Pakistan's Arshad Khan's 5-0-45-3 at Kallang on 20-08-2000.
  • Gary Kirsten scored his tenth ODI hundred. He became the first South African and the 11th batsman in ODI history after India's Sachin Tendulkar (26), Pakistan's Saeed Anwar (19), West Indian Desmond Haynes (17), India's Saurav Ganguly (15), Australia's Mark Waugh (14), West Indian Brian Lara (13), Sri Lankan Aravinda de Silva (11) ,two West Indians Gordon Greenidge (11) and Viv Richards (11) and Pakistan's Ijaz Ahmed (10) to do so.

  • The stand is also the highest for second wicket in a day-night match bettering the 166 run-stand between Asanka Gurusinha and Roshan Mahanama for Sri Lanka against New Zealand at Colombo RP on 13-12-1992. Incidentally the previous highest second wicket stand for South Africa was a 91 run partnership between Jacques Kallis and Gary Kirsten against New Zealand at Perth on 16-01-1998.
