seventh and fourth match respectively.Mark Boucher, when caught Imran Nazir off the bowling of Shaun
Pollock, completed his 100 dismissals in ODIs. He became second South
African after Dave Richardson and 14th wicketkeeper in the world to do
so. By taking 67 matches for his century of dismissals, Boucher became
the joint quickest alongwith Australian Adam Gilchrist to accomplish
this feat (though Gilchrist took 72 matches to reach this milestone,
he did not keep wicket in five of his earlier matches).Shaun Pollock when dismissed Saeed Anwar, completed his 150 wickets
in ODIs. He was playing his 104th match. Pollock became second South
African after Allan Donald who has taken 206 wickets in 121 matches.Pakistan's innings was in tatters at one stage with scorecard
reading 19 for six. Only once before a team had lost six wickets for a
score less than this. Interestingly the occasion was also provided by
Pakistan. It had lost six wickets at 14 against West Indies at Cape
Town on 25-02-1993.The tenth wicket partnership of 55 runs between Shoaib Malik and
Mushtaq Ahmed is Pakistan's second highest for this wicket against all
countries. The record for Pakistan was also made against South Africa
at Durban on 03-04-1998 when Abdur Razzaq and Waqar Younis had added
72 runs.The partnership is also the highest for tenth wicket for any team on
Sri Lankan soil. The previous best was 51 run stand between Richard
Snell and Fanie de Villiers at Colombo RPS on 04-09-1993.Mushtaq Ahmed while achieving his highest score in ODIs, now holds
the record of playing highest individual innings for Pakistan at
batting position 11. The previous highest was Waqar Younis' 33 against
South Africa at Durban on 03-04-1998.Mushtaq's innings is also the joint second highest in all ODIs by a
number eleven batsman after West Indian Joel Garner (37 versus India
at Manchester on 09-06-1983) and alongwith New Zealander Chris Pringle
(34* versus West Indies at Guwahati on 01-11-1994).David Terbrugge took four wicket haul in his only second match. His
figures (4-20) are the best by a South African bowler on Sri Lankan
soil beating Nicky Boje's 4 for 25 against Pakistan at Colombo RPS on
08-07-2000.Terbrugge's figures are also the third best by a bowler on his first
appearance against Pakistan after India's Arshad Ayub (5-21 at Dhaka
on 31-10-1988) and Australia's Dennis Lillee (5-34 at Leeds on
07-06-1975).Mark Boucher held five dismissals in the match. It was the third
occasion when he made five dismissals in a match. Boucher thus became
third wicketkeeper after India's Nayan Mongia and West- Indies' Ridley
Jacobs to make five dismissals in a match on three occasions.Terbrugge won his maiden Man of the Match award. He became 26th
South African to win MOM award in ODIs.
