Brian Lara was West Indies' best for the second wicket against
Zimbabwe. This obliterated the previous record stand of 68
between Chris Gayle and Wavell Hinds at Bristol on 06-07-2000.The total (287 for 5) was the highest for West Indies against
Zimbabwe in all matches. This obliterated the previous highest of
280 for three at Kingston on 02-04-2000.Sherwin Campbell scored his second century in ODIs. He had
made 103 also against Zimbabwe at Kingston on 01-04-2000.Campbell's century was the fourth century by a West Indian
batsman against Zimbabwe. Wavell Hinds (116* at Kingston on
02-04-2000) and Gordon Greenidge (105* at Worcester on 18-06-
1983) are the other West Indians to score a century against
Zimbabwe.Brian Lara scored 22 runs off Dirk Viljoen's one over. The
sequence was : 0, 4, 2, 6, 4, 6Zimbabwe's total (290 for 4) was its highest against West Indies
in all matches. This obliterated the previous highest of 244 for
nine at Singapore on 02-09-1999.The total was also the highest for Zimbabwe when batting second
in all matches. The previous highest was 278 for nine against
Australia at Delhi on 11-04-1998.The total was the third highest for a side batting second
against West Indies. Sri Lanka had made 329 at Sharjah on 16-10-
1995 (Sri Lanka, however, lost that match), while South Africa
made 297 for 5 at Lahore on 03-11-1997.The fifth wicket unbroken stand of 186 runs between Murray
Goodwin and Grant Flower was the highest for this wicket against West
Indies by all sides. The previous highest was an unbroken 172 runs
stand by Australians Darren Lehmann and Michael Bevan at
St. George's on 14-04-1999.The partnership was also the second best for the fifth wicket
after the record 223 run stand between Mohammad Azharuddin and Ajay
Jadeja against Sri Lanka at Colombo SSC on 17-08-1997. Incidentally
Zimbabwe's previous highest fifth wicket stand was the unbroken 145
run stand between Andy Flower and Andy Waller against Sri Lanka at New
Plymouth on 23-02-1992. Zimbabwe's previous highest for this wicket
against West Indies was 92 between Duncan Fletcher and Dave Houghton
at Worcester on 13-06-1983.Murray Goodwin became the first Zimbabwean to score a century
against West Indies. He also bettered Andy Flower's 89 at
Singapore on 02-09-1999 which was the previous highest innings
for Zimbabwe against West Indies before Goodwin (and Grant
Flower with his 96* in this match).Grant Flower (96*) made a score in the nineties for the fourth
time in his career. His other scores in the 90s are : 91 versus
Pakistan at Quetta on 30-10-1996, 90 versus South Africa at Centurion
on 25-01-1997 and 91 versus South Africa at Nairobi Gymkhana on
28-09-1999.Murray Goodwin won the Man of the Match award for the fourth
