England have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate in their 22-run win over South Africa in Centurion. Roshan Mahanama, the ICC match referee, imposed the fine after England were found to have bowled one over less at the end of the match when time allowances were taken into consideration.
According to the ICC Code of Conduct regulations concerning penalties for slow over-rates, players are fined 5% of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.
As a result, Andrew Strauss was fined 10% of his match fee. However, England had much reason for jubilation, as they qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy.
