A century from Abhinav Mukund ensured that Tamil Nadu had a healthy first-innings lead going into the penultimate day against Uttar Pradesh in Chennai. Tamil Nadu began the day at 53 for 2, and were lifted by two big partnerships. First, Abhinav and Baba Aparajith shared a 127-run partnership for the third wicket, before B Indrajith joined Abhinav for a sixth-wicket association which yielded 69 runs. Abhinav eventually fell for 140 - his 21st first-class ton- after stroking 11 fours, but Indrajith remained unbeaten on 77, as Tamil Nadu posted 360 for 7, earning a lead of 178 runs. Ali Murtaza picked up four wickets for Uttar Pradesh, but leaked 117 runs from his 42 overs.

Karnataka 214 for 3 (Manish 92*, Samarth 57) trail Madhya Pradesh 303 (Shrivastava 91, Ojha 54, Mithun 4-66) by 89 runs

Ravikumar Samarth and Manish Pandey both raised fifties to keep Karnataka well-poised for first-innings points against Madhya Pradesh in Indore. Madhya Pradesh, who began the day at 270 for 7, could only add 33 runs to that total, as Abhimanyu Mithun (4 for 66) quickly cleaned up the tail inside 10 overs. In reply, Robin Uthappa and Samarth gave Karnatka a solid start, putting up a 43-run opening stand. Uthappa and Kunal Kapoor fell in quick succession, but Manish and Samarth counterattacked with a 102-run partnership. After Samarth was dismissed for 57, Manish and Karun Nair batted through to stumps, helping Karnataka compile 214 for 3. Manish ended the day eight runs short of a ton, having muscled eight fours.

Ian Dev Singh's 11th first-class half-century powered Jammu & Kashmir's innings against Bengal in Kolkata, but key strikes from the hosts' bowlers kept the contest on an even scale. Bengal were 312 for 7 when the day began, thanks largely to Wriddhiman Saha's hundred, and they added a further 71 to that total, as the tailenders Ashok Dinda and Amitava Banerjee batted along with Saha to frustrate J&K for almost 20 overs before Ram Dayal and Parvez Rasool picked up the three elusive wickets. Adil Reshi departed early in J&K's reply, but handy knocks from Imran Haroon and Obaid Haroon, coupled with Ian Dev's 103-ball 72, took the team past the 100-run mark. Ian Dev eventually fell in the 40th over after hitting 10 fours and two sixes, but an unbroken 55-run association between Shubham Pundir and Bandeep Singh took J&K to 183 for 5, setting up an intriguing penultimate day at Eden Gardens.

Baroda were 271 for 7 overnight, thanks to Kedar Devdhar's 80, but they could add only 27 more runs to that score, as three-wicket hauls from Anureet Singh (3 for 58) and Arnab Nandi (3 for 68) ensured the team was bowled out for 298.
