At Centurion, October 19, 2011 (day/night). Australia won by 93 runs (D/L method). Toss: South Africa. One-day international debuts: P. J. Cummins, M. R. Marsh.
Ponting and Clarke kept one eye on the weather as they built a steady stand. An interruption for rain of four hours vindicated their approach. When the teams returned for a 29-over game, the pair took their partnership to 102, and Mike Hussey delivered a blistering 21-ball cameo which helped boost the revised target to 223 - a full 40 more than Australia's actual total. South Africa's batsmen were as ineffectual as their bowlers. The best stand they could muster was 36 as Johnson swung the ball and Cummins made the most of juicy conditions, maintaining his record of taking at least two wickets in an over in his three international matches to date. Australia swept to a convincing victory late into the night, in front of deserted stands. Man of the Match: R. T. Ponting.
