†AUSTRALIA v PAKISTAN 1989-90

At Bombay, October 23

15-Apr-1991
At Bombay, October 23. Pakistan won by 66 runs. Toss: Australia. This was a much more convincing performance in the field by Pakistan. Imran made the crucial strike, sending back the Australian middle order at a time when it needed someone to establish a partnership with Jones. And although Taylor did provide that support, seeing Jones reach his fifty off 78 balls, Qadir trapped Jones lbw and went on to take two more wickets. Pakistan's innings had been held together by Shoaib's chanceless 73 off 121 balls and owed much to his third-wicket stand of 72 with Miandad. Lawson, holding a spectacular diving catch at long-on, ended that. And after Shoaib had become one of three wickets by Alderman in seven balls, Pakistan needed the positive approach of Wasim Akram and Akram Raza to get them a defendable score.
Man of the Match: Imran Khan.
