†AUSTRALIA v WEST INDIES 1983-84

At Adelaide, January 29

15-Apr-1985
At Adelaide, January 29. West Indies won by six wickets. Striving for a morale-boosting win after three successive losses to West Indies, Australia fielded their strongest side and still lost comprehensively. Hughes won the toss and batted, and although West Indies had some fielding blemishes they restricted Australia to 165 for seven. Smith made 55, after being dropped at 20 and 38, and Marsh an unbeaten 34, but overall the batsmen struggled against the speed of the West Indian attack. Gabriel then scored 41 in 91 minutes, after which change-spinner Border twice struck quickly, bowling Richards first ball off his pad. However, Lloyd and Logie, the latter with a rapid-fire 49 not out, assured the West Indians of a comfortable win.
Man of the Match: A. L. Logie. Attendance: 31,424.
