At the Wanderers Gauteng extended their first-innings lead to 212 before declaring at 359 for 7, denying Northerns the extra bowling point. Vaughn van Jaarsveld (84) and Shane Burger, who scored 55 from 54 balls, were the main contributors. Northerns' second innings did not start well, but after faltering at 33 for 3 they managed to clear the deficit, ending at 212 for 5 when bad light brought proceedings to an end, with Kruger van Wyk at the crease on 45.
Some early help from the pitch saw KwaZulu-Natal dominate at Benoni as Easterns declared at 152 for 9. Andrew Tweedie and Zahir Abrahim, both picking up four wickets, made the most of the conditions with batsmen sparring outside off to give the keeper Darren Smith five catches. Mark Sanders and Rivash Gobind then batted KwaZulu-Natal through to stumps, which they reached at 102 without loss.
