Phil DeFreitas has thrown his hat into the ring for the position of England's fast bowling coach. He retired from first-class cricket last summer after 20 seasons, which included 44 Tests and 103 one-day internationals for England.
Currently coaching in Hong Kong, DeFreitas told BBC Sport that he has plenty to offer. "With my 21 years of cricket knowledge, playing at the highest level, I think I can contribute something to this job. I'm sure I can bring my vast experience and knowledge about the game, and bowling, to the party."
DeFreitas had a distinguished career, which spanned 372 first-class matches and 479 one-day games. He finished with 10,991 runs and 1248 wickets after stints at Lancashire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.
Allan Donald is currently heading the list of candidates to replace Troy Cooley, who leaves the post following England's tour of India, and interviews are due to be held on February 11.
