Heavy rain had soaked Birmingham in the 24 hours before the scheduled 2pm start, and a final downpour as the sides prepared for a 28-over match led to abandonment at 6pm. It was the fourth day's international cricket Edgbaston had lost to the elements in 2012, following the truncated Test against West Indies the previous month.
