Former Kent batsman David Laycock has died after a long battle against a brain tumour. He was 61.
Laycock was on the staff for six years between 1969 and 1974 during which time he made 12 first-class appearances. His best performance came on his debut against Leicestershire in 1969 when he made 58, his only fifty. He also made five appearances in the Sunday League without any success.
He played for Sussex's 2nd XI from 1966 to 1974, and although he scored heavily for them in his final summer he was unable to force his way back into a strong first team.
