Alan Oakman, who had a distinguished career with Sussex as an allrounder and played two Tests for England, has died at the age of 88.
Though his international career was brief, Oakman featured in one of the most famous Test matches when Jim Laker took 19 wickets against Australia, at Old Trafford, in 1956.
A renowned close fielder, Oakman snapped up five catches around the match during Laker's record haul.
Oakman was an offspin-bowling allrounder, scoring 21,800 first-class runs and claiming 736 wickets.
In 1970 he became coach of Warwickshire and was in charge for their 1972 County Championship title before he moved into an off-field role as Assistant Secretary for Cricket Administration.
He remained an active cricketer into his late 60s, making appearances for Warwickshire's Over-50s side.
