Brett Geeves has taken out the Ricky Ponting Medal for the second successive year as Tasmania's Player of the Year. Geeves, who is in South Africa with Australia's one-day squad, was also honoured with the David Boon Medal as the state's Sheffield Shield Player of the Year.
Geeves was the Tigers' leading Sheffield Shield wicket taker this season with 37 at 23.86 and he also had a breakthrough summer with the bat. He finished with 343 runs at 38.11 and recorded the dubious honour of twice being stranded not out on 99, leaving him still without a first-class century.
The Jack Simmons Medal for the FR Cup Player of the Year went to the opening batsman Michael Dighton, who also picked up the same prize last summer. Dighton's 403 runs at 40.30 placed him sixth on the competition tally. The Twenty20 award went to Jason Krejza on the same day he was included in Australia's preliminary 30-man squad for the World Twenty20.
The opening batsman Jonathan Wells, who made his first-class debut during the season, was named the TCA Young Player of the Year, while his fellow top-order player Rhett Lockyear was given the Scott Mason Memorial Captain's Award. Luke Butterworth collected the TCA Chairman's Award and the women's prize went to Katelyn Fryett.
