Allrounder Lewis Gregory has been named Somerset's captain for the NatWest T20 Blast.
Gregory led the T20 side briefly last season, for the quarter-final defeat against Nottinghamshire, in the absence of Jim Allenby.
His appointment completes Somerset's captaincy restructuring ahead of the 2018 season after Tom Abell added the one-day leadership to his County Championship duties.
"To captain Somerset in the T20 Blast this year will be an absolute honour. To have my name on the captain's board alongside some of the great names in the club's history is a huge privilege," Gregory said.
"I had a little taste of captaincy last year and I'm delighted that I'll get the chance to lead such a talented squad and try to take our T20 game forward. It's an exciting time for the club and we have the ability in this squad to beat the best and challenge for silverware."
Gregory, who bowls at skiddy pace and can give the ball a hefty thump, gained interest from the England selectors a couple of years ago, being named in the one-day squad for the one-off ODI against Ireland in Dublin which ended up being the last match of Peter Moores' reign. However, he has not featured in another full squad since.
