HBL demolish Faisalabad

A career-best 7 for 33 by Dilawar Khan allowed Habib Bank Limited(HBL) to skittle Faisalabad out for 124 in their second innings and notch up the required ten runs off only two overs to take maximum points at the Sargodha Stadium. Loss of wickets at regular intervals meant Faisalabad had lost half their side before reaching the 100-mark, and a collapse saw them lose the last five for only 20 runs. A few 20-plus scores from the middle order saved them from an innings-loss as HBL recovered well from 0 for 2 in their first innings to stay unbeaten and top of the group.

The match between Karachi Whites and National Bank of Pakistan(NBP) remained poised for an interesting finish with the hosts ending day three on 97 for 3, requiring another 33 to make NBP bat again. Captain Mansoor Amjad scored 47 as the last three wickets put on 59 runs for NBP to take them past 400. Tanvir Ahmed and Misbah Khan picked up four wickets each for Karachi as the hosts face a tricky final day's play to save the match.

Waqas Ahmed picked up his second five-wicket haul of the match as Hyderabad lost to Lahore Ravi by 173 runs after being bundled out for 199 in their second-innings in Lahore. Improving considerably on their first-innings disappointment, Hyderabad built a few decent partnerships - their last two wickets added 64 runs - but failed to overcome a huge deficit to remain winless in the competition.

An unbeaten half-century from opener Mohtashim Ali took Sui Southern Gas Corporation(SSGC) past 100 after hosts Multan were all out for 336 in their first-innings at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Abdur Rauf, Multan's captain, added 64 runs for the ninth wicket with Zulfiqar Babar as Multan went past 300 and took a first-innings lead. SSGC recovered well after losing their first wicket cheaply as the match looks set for a draw.

Safraz Ahmed and Kashif Raza shared nine wickets between them as Pakistan Customs were handed a innings and 45 runs thrashing by Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) at the Jinnah Stadium. All out for 247, WAPDA soon ran through Pakistan Customs' batting lineup and only a dogged 49 by Zahoor Elahi, their captain, allowed some sort of respectability to the final score.

A much-improved performance by the Karachi Blue batsmen, including an unbeaten 142 by Tariq Haroon and a 95 by former international Shadab Kabir, set Islamabad a target of 146 to win with the hosts scoring 87 of those for the loss of one wicket at the Diamond Ground. Tariq's innings, off 223 deliveries, was well-supported by the late order as the hosts had to toil for 142 runs to pick up the last four wickets. Although they lost Raheel Majeed early, Islamabad are favourites to score off the remaining 59 runs in the morning session to take maximum points from the game.

Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) raced to 47 off only five overs to score a ten-wicket win over Lahore Shalimar at the Gaddafi Stadium. Dismissing the hosts for 128 in their second innings courtesy of four-wicket hauls by Azhar Attari and Junaid Nadir, ZTBL openers smashed nine boundaries as they wasted no time in taking home the nine points.

Nauman Habib picked up seven wickets as Peshawar rounded off a 43-run victory against Abbottabad in a low-scoring match at the Arbab Niaz Stadium. A target of 165 - which would have been the highest total of the match, if achieved - proved beyond the visitor's reach as four ducks did not help their cause either. Riaz Kail top-scored with 23 but it was a sorry state otherwise as Abbottabad were dismissed for 121.

Khan Research Laboratories require 82 runs on the final day as Quetta collapsed in their second-innings to hand over the momentum to the visitors. Mohammad irshan picked up five wickets as the hosts, from 95 for four, were all out for 134 at the Bugti Stadium.
