Hyderabad 340 beat Assam 158 and 126 (Sathish 56) by an innings and 56 runs
Scorecard
Hyderabad clinched a semi-final berth with a comprehensive innings-and-56-run victory against Assam at the Gymkhana Ground in Secunderabad. Following on after trailing by 182 in the first innings, Assam fared even worse the second time around, being bundled out for 126. Apart from Rajagopal Sathish, who made 56, none of the other Assam batsmen offered much resistance. The wickets were shared around, with Sankinani Vishnuvardhan, Inder Shekar Reddy and Kaushik Reddy taking three each. The win puts Hyderabad on top of Group B, and ensures that they won't meet Mumbai in the semi-finals.
Karnataka 194 and 181 for 6 (Somasunder 58) lead Railways 299 (Ali 113, Yadav 54) by 76 runs
Scorecard
Railways remained on track to clinch the win which could seal their place in the semi-finals. Despite collapsing from 256 for 4 to 299 all out, they remained favourites after reducing Karnataka to 181 for 6 in the second innings at the IAF Grounds in Bangalore, an overall lead of only 76. For Karnataka, Sujith Somasunder scored 58, while Rahul Dravid got a start but failed to capitalise, being trapped lbw by Kulamani Parida for 38. With Delhi almost certain to concede the first-innings lead against Mumbai, a win will put Railways level with Delhi on 12 points. Railways will then qualify for the semis on the basis of having secured more outright wins.
Uttar Pradesh 124 and 114 for 3 (Raina 47*) need 232 more runs to beat Baroda 186 and 283 (YK Pathan 62, Powar 51, Williams 50)
Scorecard
Baroda kept their hopes of a semi-final berth alive as UP, needing 346 to win, reached 114 for 3 by the close of play on the third day in Vadodara, still 232 away from victory. Earlier, Baroda, resuming from 54 for 3, lifted their total to 283, thanks to their lower order - the last three wickets added 126, with Yusuf Pathan, Irfan's brother, scoring 62. If Baroda win, they will go level with Punjab on 16 points, and one point behind leaders Hyderabad. The runs-per-wicket quotient will then decide which of Baroda or Punjab qualify.
Maharashtra 175 and 24 for 0 need 338 more runs to beat Tamil Nadu 277 and 259 for 8 dec (Hemanth 58*, Karthik 58)
Scorecard
Maharashtra faced an uphill task in their quest for victory against Tamil Nadu at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. At close of play on the third day, they needed 338 more to win with all wickets in hand. Tamil Nadu had earlier declared their second innings on 259 for 8, with Hemanth Kumar and Dinesh Karthik scoring half-centuries.
Gujarat 420 and 55 for 0 lead Andhra 314 (Venugopal 156, Gnaneswara 61) by 161
Scorecard
Gujarat's hopes of getting the outright win required for a semi-final berth reduced considerably after they were thwarted by Venugopal Rao. His excellent 156 lifted Andhra to 314, and more importantly, consumed valuable time. Gujarat were still well on top with an overall lead of 161 and all ten wickets in hand, but with only one day to go, a draw was the most likely result in the Trishna Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
Mumbai 350 for 3 (Jaffer 122, Indulkar 85, Mane 73) trail Delhi 394 by 44 runs
Scorecard
Mumbai's top order piled on the runs at the Wankhede Stadium, as Delhi's chances of making it to the semi-finals receded. Requiring a first-innings lead to strengthen their case, Delhi were on the verge of conceding a huge one, as Mumbai closed the third day on 350 for 3, trailing by only 44. Wasim Jaffer led the way with 122, while Vinit Indulkar (85) and Vinayak Mane (73) made merry as well.
Bengal 294 for 6 (Ganguly 121, Gandhi 77*) trail Madhya Pradesh 392 by 98 runs
Scorecard
An excellent 121 by Sourav Ganguly lifted Bengal to within 98 of Madhya Pradesh's first-innings total, with four wickets still in hand. Ganguly found an able ally in Debang Gandhi, the former Indian opener, and the two added 167 for the sixth wicket to lift Bengal from a miserable 106 for 5. Ganguly was out just before close of play at the Eden Gardens, but Gandhi carried on, and was undefeated on 77.
