Uday Joshi, a former India domestic player, has been jailed for six years after being convicted of sexually molesting a 13-year-old boy in Northern Ireland three decades ago, according to the BBC. Offspinner Joshi, 67, maintains his innocence and has lodged an appeal against the conviction.
Originally from Rajkot, Joshi had played 186 first-class matches for Gujarat, Railways, Saurashtra and Sussex between 1965 and 1983, claiming over 500 wickets. Currently an American citizen, residing in North Carolina, Joshi's offence occurred in August 1979, during his stint with Sussex - he was in Northern Ireland for the summer to play for a local club.
