India v Bangladesh 1997-1998

At Mumbai, May 25 (day/night)

15-Apr-1999
At Mumbai, May 25 (day/night). India won by five wickets. Toss: Bangladesh.
Despite being gifted 21 wides, Bangladesh struggled to set a three-figure target. They managed, thanks to 44-run partnership between the watchful Khaled Masud and the more aggressive Hasib-ul-Hassan, who had come together at 71 for eight. Kumble took three for 17. India began at a sprint until Tendulkar, returning after a two-match rest to play before his home crowd, was first out in the tenth over - with the score already 72. His departure abruptly changed the game; it took India almost 20 more overs, and four more wickets, to reach the target. Bangladesh had needed a large total to boost their run-rate; their qualification now depended upon a titanic Kenyan collapse to the last qualifier.
Man of the Match: A. Kumble.
