India v West Indies, 2013-14

Wisden's review of the third ODI, India vs West Indies, 2013-14

15-Apr-2014
At Kanpur, November 27, 2013. India won by five wickets. Toss: India.
After a dewy evening in Vizag came a hazy morning in Kanpur, but West Indies seemed to have adapted well to the 9am start as Powell and Samuels stitched together a century partnership. As in the previous match, however, they lost their way, giving up two wickets in the powerplay; Darren Bravo's third consecutive fifty and Sammy's late thrust were not quite enough to stretch India. Rampaul induced Kohli into an edge behind, thus ensuring his 100th one-day international wicket was the most sought-after in the world game. But from 61 for two, Dhawan cracked the fifth one-day century of both his career and 2013, twirled his moustache, raised both hands and set up an easy win. Yuvraj Singh, in desperate need of runs to retain his place, rode in Dhawan's slipstream to score his first half-century in 11 one-day innings. It was India's ninth successful run-chase in ten attempts, and sealed their sixth consecutive one-day series victory (equalling their best sequence, between August 2008 and September 2009).
Man of the Match: S. Dhawan. Man of the Series: V. Kohli.
