India v ZImbabwe
At Faridabad, March 7
15-Apr-2003
At Faridabad, March 7. Zimbabwe won by one wicket. Toss: India.
Zimbabwe took the lead in the one-day series through an incredible last-gasp win. Marillier
came to the crease in the 45th over, when his side were reeling at 210 for eight, and wielded his
willow with such aplomb that he not only scooped up victory with two balls to spare, but also
completed a whirlwind 21-ball fifty, then the joint fifth-quickest in one-day internationals. Zaheer
Khan, whose first eight overs had claimed four for 13, went for 34 in his last two. Marillier
repeatedly stepped across and hit over the keeper's head; not even Kumble could halt him in the
final over. This sensational onslaught overshadowed half-centuries from Ganguly and Laxman
earlier in the day, as well as a carefully crafted stand of 111 between two more seasoned
Zimbabwean campaigners, Campbell and Andy Flower, before the middle order crumbled.
Man of the Match: D. A. Marillier.
