15-Apr-2011
At Chennai, April 3, 2010. Chennai Super Kings won by 23 runs. ‡Chennai Super Kings 246-5 (20 overs) (M. Vijay 127, M. L. Hayden 34, J. A. Morkel 62); Rajasthan Royals 223-5 (20 overs) (M. J. Lumb 37, N. V. Ojha 94*, S. R. Watson 60). MoM: M. Vijay.
This was a day for records: Chennai's 246 was the highest total in IPL history, after they pillaged 155 off the final ten overs. Murali Vijay zipped to 127, the highest score of this tournament, facing only 56 balls and hitting 11 sixes and eight fours; his stand of 152 with Albie Morkel was three short of the all-wicket IPL record. Rajasthan held their nerve, with Naman Ojha sprinting to one of the most inspired innings of the tournament. He and Shane Watson threatened a miracle - but Doug Bollinger, making his IPL debut, doused the challenge by bowling straight, finishing with 2-15 from his four overs.
