Durham are poised to sign James Franklin, the former New Zealand allrounder, as the head coach of their Championship and List A teams.
The club parted ways with Jon Lewis, their long-serving previous head coach, in December after a coaching restructure that he felt reduced his role. They have now identified Franklin, who captained Middlesex to the County Championship title in 2016, as his successor.
It is expected that Franklin will sign a three-year deal and spend around nine months a year with Durham, with an official title of lead coach and head of high performance. He is currently a coaching consultant at Brisbane Heat in the BBL.
Durham are also expected to name a specialist T20 coach in the coming weeks.
