Kenya v Zimbabwe 1999-2000

Toss: Zimbabwe

15-Apr-2001
Toss: Zimbabwe. International debuts: J. Ababu; D. T. Mutendera.
Zimbabwe did their best to squander a seemingly indomitable position, though the momentum gained from Goodwin's undefeated 76 was just enough to carry them home with four balls to spare. Kenya had started well, reaching 121 for one in the 33rd over thanks to a partnership of 100 between Shah and Tikolo. But wickets then fell with regularity, and Kenya could set a target of only 200 on a good pitch. With their reply stuck on 31, Zimbabwe lost both openers - Johnson to the first ball of 19-year-old Josephat Ababu's international career. Goodwin and Andy Flower added 109 for the fourth wicket and took Zimbabwe to within 19 of victory with almost ten overs left. Those 19 eventually came, but for the loss of four wickets and a fair bit of face.
Man of the Match: M. W. Goodwin.
