Former Lancashire middle-order batsman Ken Snellgrove has died at the age of 67.
Snellgrove made his county debut in 1965 after several seasons in the 2nd XI and over the next ten seasons scored 3906 runs in 105 first-class appearances. His best season was 1971 when he made 991 runs. Although he passed 50 in 21 innings, he only went on to make two hundreds, the best being 138 against Middlesex in 1970.
Although he was at Old Trafford in an era when Lancashire dominated domestic one-day cricket, he featured little in the knock-out competitions but was a regular in the John Player [Sunday] League between 1971 and 1974.
He was subsequently successful in the Lancashire Leagues and then worked in business with his father-in-law in Liverpool before retiring.
