Brian Lara, the West Indies captain, refused to make any excuses for the poor show by his side in the third one-day against Pakistan at Lahore, blaming the bowlers for the reversal.
Pakistan were set a target of 192 in 35 overs by the Duckworth and Lewis method after malfunctioning floodlights delayed play. They managed to reach the target losing only three wickets in the process.
"We didn't bowl well today," Lara told reporters. "We had a good score but the extras didn't help either and made a difference. At this level you can't bowl so many extra deliveries."
In the 33.4 overs that Pakistan took to score the required runs, the West Indies bowlers conceded 31 extras, Ian Bradshaw bowling six wides in his wicketelss 6.4 overs. Pakistan conceded 23 extras in 46.3 overs.
"To defend a target of 192 in 35 overs on a seaming track was definitely in our favour," Lara said. Pakistan lead the five-match series 2-0 with the next game at Multan on December 13.
