Marsh to develop Kent's future wicket-keeping talent

Kent County Cricket Club is delighted to announce a new role for its former captain

Kent CCC Press Release
01-Mar-2000
Kent County Cricket Club is delighted to announce a new role for its former captain. Steve Marsh, who will be reporting back in mid-March with the other members of the playing staff, will be playing a key role in the development of future wicket-keeping talent. He will continue to play a full part as a player this coming season but will, along with coaches John Wright and Chris Stone, spend time identifying and assisting potential future wicket keepers for the county.
Commenting on the new situation, Coach, John Wright, said:
"Steve is approaching the start of this season as enthusiastically as ever. He has worked hard at his fitness during the winter and is determined to try and find his way into the first team as a batsman as well as keeping Paul Nixon on his toes in the wicket-keeping department. The Club is very lucky to be so strongly represented in this area.
Steve will also be helping Chris Stone and me with the development of young wicket keepers. He has agreed to captain the Second XI when available to do so and will assist with the coaching of our young keepers. He has a wealth of experience from which everyone can benefit."
For his part, Steve Marsh added:
"I have always been totally committed to Kent and want to play a part in the county's success for as long as I can. I am approaching the season as enthusiastically as ever and still want to press for a first team place. Kent has a wonderful tradition of high class wicket keepers and the opportunity to be involved with the development of our future stars is a new and very exciting role for me."
