Najaf Shah's six keeps PIA unbeaten

A round-up of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Silver League matches that ended on November 1, 2014

Group I

Pakistan International Airlines powered to their fourth win in four games, while Quetta Bears fell to their third loss in three. PIA's 102-run victory was set up by a final-innings six-for from left-arm pacer Najaf Shah.
A team performance from Bears in the first innings meant PIA could only manage 179, and despite their bowlers putting in a brave show when it was Bears' turn to bat, they still could not gain the lead - Bears went seven runs ahead, driven by a half-century from opener Shahzad Tareen, and a tenth-wicket stand of 42.
None of the PIA batsmen could quite take charge in their second innings, all those who got starts not converting them into big knocks. But a number of middle-order cameos helped them past 200. That left Bears with a relatively gettable target of 216, but they suffered a top-order collapse. Just when the innings seemed to be stable, going from 37 for 4 to 86 for 4, another slide ensued, and they were routed for 113. The destroyer-in-chief was Najaf, whose six wickets came in 15 very economical overs.
