New Zealand v England 1929-30

Played at Auckland, February 14, 15, 17

15-Apr-1931
Played at Auckland, February 14, 15, 17. Drawn. Most unfortunately, bad weather limited play to the third day - Monday - and the game, of course, had to be left drawn. Bowley and Duleepsinhji each gave a masterly display. The professional did not make a mistake and hit a 6 and eleven 4's but in a brilliant stand was eclipsed by his partner. Duleepsinhji played dazzling cricket, surpassing anything seen in New Zealand of recent years. His footwork, timing and placing of the ball were perfect and not until after completing his century was he in the least trouble with the bowling. His beautiful strokes all round the wicket included a 6 and eleven 4's. Woolley also hit freely and England declared at tea time with three men out. Dempster and Weir - the young Auckland batsman - made their runs in good style. The game having been ruined by the continuous rain that fell on Friday and Saturday, the programme of the touring team was altered to admit of the playing of a fourth Test match.
