New Zealand v India 1998-99

At Auckland, January 16

15-Apr-2000
At Auckland, January 16. India won by five wickets. Toss: India.
Usually, India's one-day wins are fashioned by their batsmen; in this instance, their bowlers did the work in conditions suiting swing and seam. Bowling a splendid length, Srinath and Prasad forced New Zealand to concentrate on preserving their wickets. Srinath claimed three early victims; Prasad was desperately unlucky, but did his bit by stifling and dismissing India's scourge of the summer, McMillan. The notion that when Tendulkar fails, India fail was forgotten. He went for five, but Ganguly and the middle order hit back and India won with 37 balls to spare. Dravid was India's top scorer for the sixth consecutive innings.
Man of the Match: R. Dravid.
