New Zealand v India

At Queenstown, January 4, 2003

15-Apr-2004
At Queenstown, January 4, 2003. New Zealand won by seven wickets. Toss: New Zealand.

Queenstown's Events Centre was hosting its first one-day international, but for New Zealand it was business as usual. While India's openers were adding 38, a contest looked possible, but Adams, recovered from a back injury, struck four times in his first five overs, and Ganguly irresponsibly cut Tuffey to third man. Adams returned to finish with five for 22, then the joint second-best oneday figures for New Zealand, before Fleming played himself back into form with some handsome pulls. His team cruised to an unassailable - but anticlimactic - 4-0 lead inside 26 overs, prompting Fleming to reflect that such a one-sided triumph had left them feeling "a bit flat".

Man of the Match: A. R. Adams.
