NEW ZEALAND v WEST INDIES 1994-95

At Christchurch, January 28

15-Apr-1996
At Christchurch, January 28. West Indies won by nine wickets. Toss: West Indies. International debut: R. L. Hayes.
West Indies casually completed a clean sweep with 12.2 overs in hand, while New Zealand completed 16 limited-overs internationals without a win. Ambrose was unlucky to finish wicketless after he exerted the early pressure, bowling with three slips and a gully on a hard pitch. Others reaped the benefit: Arthurton, Dhanraj and Benjamin were introduced with immediate success.
When West Indies replied, chasing 147, Lara earned the biggest cheer of the day from a subdued 12,000-strong crowd, took his series aggregate to 161 for once out and struck the winning four. Fast bowler Roydon Hayes was a startling choice - Northern Districts had dropped him from the one-day Shell Cup because his bowling was so expensive.
Man of the Match: W. K. M. Benjamin.
