Pakistan v Bangladesh

Utpal Shuvro
15-Apr-2004

At Rawalpindi, September 18, 2003 (day/night). Pakistan won by five wickets. Toss: Bangladesh.
Bangladesh gave Pakistan a real scare. Yousuf Youhana still needed one run from the penultimate ball, which, to the relief of Pakistan supporters, he hit through mid-wicket for four. Youhana's 94 not out showed superlative calm; however, costly fumbles by Bangladeshi fielders unfamiliar with tight finishes made scoring 36 from the final six overs a bit easier. Earlier, Khaled Mahmud had at last called right and Bangladesh made good use of his luck: a 70-run partnership for the third wicket laid the foundation, but Bangladesh's impetus came from Tushar Imran and Khaled Mahmud.
The last ten overs brought 77 runs. Pakistan's reply was reduced from a stroll to a scramble when Mohammad Rafiq ended Youhana's 85-run stand with Younis Khan.
Man of the Match: Yousuf Youhana.
