At Lahore, February 13, 2006 (day/night). India won by five wickets. Toss: India.
India's outrageously gifted batting line-up converted a tricky 190 for five in the 35th over into a strolling five-wicket win with 14 balls to spare. Dhoni made light of the target with 72 off 46 balls - hooligan stuff, casually violent and full of chauvinistic machismo. Even Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, with a haughty 79, were upstaged by 95 of the best from Tendulkar. Early on, he played the ball, left it and was beaten in roughly equal measures as he swatted at the seam movement of Mohammad Asif and Umar Gul; inevitably and impeccably, he opened up later. Again, Pakistan barely threatened to set a target until Shoaib Malik got going, finally escaping the nineties.
Man of the Match: M. S. Dhoni.
