PAKISTAN v NEW ZEALAND 1984-85

At Hyderabad, November 25, 26, 27, 29

15-Apr-1986
At Hyderabad, November 25, 26, 27, 29. Pakistan won by seven wickets with a day to spare. New Zealand succumbed again to Pakistan's spinners, Iqbal Qasim and Qadir, who between them captured fourteen wickets in the match. There was also a fine display of spin bowling by Boock, who finished with seven for 87 in Pakistan's first innings. Eventually, needing 227 to win, Pakistan lost two wickets for only 14 in their second innings, but Mudassar and Miandad added 212 for the third wicket - a record for Pakistan against New Zealand - before Mudassar was out for 106, minutes away from victory. Miandad became the second Pakistani after Hanif Mohammad to score two centuries in a Test match, his 103 not out in the second innings making him his country's leading century-maker with thirteen. Following severe criticism by the New Zealand captain and manager of the umpiring the BCCP set up an enquiry to look into the complaints. This was the 1,000th Test match since the first one was played between Australia and England in March 1877.
