†PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES 1981-82

At Adelaide, December 5

15-Apr-1983
At Adelaide, December 5. Pakistan won by 8 runs, a remarkable victory, coming as it did immediately after they had been overwhelmed by Australia in the second Test. Pakistan were put in to bat and after sixteen overs had been reduced to 35 for five. A patient innings by Zaheer, helped first by Ijaz Faqih and then Sarfraz, produced a total which saved face but hardly seemed adequate. However, West Indies' batsmen paid the penalty for over-confidence as their first three wickets went for 38. Lloyd and Bacchus tilted the balance West Indies' way, but a brilliant falling catch by Tahir at deep square leg accounted for Lloyd and Dujon soon followed. The rest of the batting was then disposed of most improbably by the leg-spin of Wasim Raja.
Man of the Match: Wasim Raja. Attendance: 6,133.
