†PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES 1988-89

At Adelaide, December 10

15-Apr-1990
At Adelaide, December 10. West Indies won by 89 runs. Toss: Pakistan. Since their arrival in Australia, to take part in the World Series Cup, Pakistan had played only three one-day matches against Queensland XIs. Such inadequate preparation soon found them out. Having put West Indies in, on a cool and overcast morning (a delayed start reduced the match of 47 over a side), they were given no chance to settle down by Haynes and Greenidge, whose brilliant opening partnership of 169 in 26 overs virtually settled the result within the first 90 minutes of play. Haynes's century (107 balls, eight fours, four sixes) was his eleventh in one-day internationals. The pick of Pakistan's bowlers, Abdul Qadir, had flown in from Singapore to join the Pakistanis only three hours before the start of play.
Man of the Match: D. L. Haynes. Attendance: 5,713.
