†PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES 1989-90

At Sharjah, October 14

15-Apr-1991
At Sharjah, October 14. Pakistan won by 11 runs. Toss: West Indies. Wasim Akram's hat-trick - the fourth in one-day internationals - ended West Indies' challenge just when they looked to have the match under control at 209 for five. Going round the wicket, the left-arm fast bowler hit Dujon and Marshall's leg stump, and, reverting to over the wicket, he finished his eighth over by bowling the left-handed Ambrose. Best and Walsh added 29 for the last wicket, but Akram's fourth wicket in thirteen balls left West Indies 11 runs short. The difference was exactly the number of wides conceded by the West Indian bowlers in Pakistan's innings. This was built around a splendid 74 off 83 balls by Salim Malik and stretched to 250 by Imran's powerful hitting at the end, including two sixes and two fours in Ambrose's last over.
Man of the Match: Wasim Akram.
