PAKISTAN v ZIMBABWE

At Hobart, February 27

15-Apr-1993
At Hobart, February 27. Pakistan won by 53 runs. Toss: Zimbabwe. Aamir Sohail reached his maiden hundred (136 balls, 12 fours) in one-day internationals, though four chances went down after he reached 50. The bowlers did well to restrict Pakistan to 96 from the first 30 overs, but the next 20 yielded nearly eight an over, with the veteran off-spinner Traicos uncharacteristically expensive. The charge was led by the inventive Javed Miandad, who took 89 from 94 balls and added 145 in 25 overs with Sohail. The Zimbabweans started shakily when Flower and Pycroft gave Wasim Akram his 150th and 151st wickets in limited-overs internationals. By the 20th over they were only 33 for three, but Shah and Houghton shared 70 before falling in quick succession to Sohail's left-arm spin. Far too late to matter, Waller and Butchart added 79 in nine overs. Imran Khan returned to lead Pakistan, but did not bat or bowl, and his right shoulder seemed to pain him in the field.
Man of the Match: Aamir Sohail. Attendance: 1,107.
