Chris Rogers played a blinder to ruin Stuart Law's Gabba farewell

Chris Rogers and Murray Goodwin blasted brilliant centuries as Western Australia cruised to a superb seven-wicket victory against Queensland at the Gabba. Required to chase 285 from just 53 overs, Western Australia prevailed with 4.1 overs to spare.
The day, however, ended in a sour note for WA, who later discovered they had been docked a point for a slow over-rate in their match against New South Wales in January. The upshot is that they now cannot reach next month's Pura Cup final.
But Rogers knew nothing of that, as he hit the winning runs off Stuart Law, the local hero who had earlier brought the curtain down on his batting career at the Gabba with a splendid 203. Rogers finished unconquered on 119, the same score that Goodwin made before being caught in the deep off Andy Bichel.
Resuming on 1 for 222, Queensland progressed to 8 for 445 before setting Western Australia a stiff target. Law took his overnight score of 126 not out to 203, and there was also a big innings from Clinton Perren (141).
But there was to be no fairytale ending for Law in front of his home crowd, as Rogers and Goodwin put together 234 in even time, after Western Australia had slumped to 2 for 42 in the 11th over.
The victory took Western Australia to fourth place in the table, with 15 points - seven behind Tasmania, who currently occupy second place, although they are struggling in their current match against Victoria. As for Queensland, they remain stuck on 18 points, with the crunch game against New South Wales coming up in the first week of March.
