South Africa have been fined for a slow over-rate in the first Twenty20 international against Australia, in Melbourne, on Sunday.
Ranjan Madugalle, the match referee, ruled that they were one over short of their target when time allowances were taken into account. Each player has been fined five percent of their match fee with the captain, Johan Botha, being hit with double that amount.
South Africa lost the match by 52 runs as David Warner, the Australia opener, made his stunning debut with 89 off 43 balls. The visitors were also slow with their overs in the second match in Brisbane as they lost the series 2-0.
