South Africa v Zimbabwe 1999-2000

At Port Elizabeth, February 6

15-Apr-2001
At Port Elizabeth, February 6. South Africa won by 53 runs. Toss: South Africa.
The skill and patience of Kallis's batting, combined with a devastating opening spell from Pollock, saw South Africa safely into the final. Accurate bowling and excellent fielding by Zimbabwe left Kallis two short of a century at the end, having faced 132 balls, and even Klusener was kept in check: the two put on a sedate 58 in 18 overs for the sixth wicket. On another slow pitch, however, South Africa's eventual total was sufficiently competitive; more so when Pollock had Grant Flower caught in the slips off the second ball of the innings, quickly following up by dismissing Wishart and Campbell. Pollock's final figures were 8-4-7-3. Johnson batted aggressively before he was caught at mid-off, and Zimbabwe's last hopes died when Andy Flower was run out by a direct hit from Gibbs at mid-wicket.
Man of the Match: J. H. Kallis. Attendance: 10,073.
