Sri Lanka v Bangladesh

At Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo, August 5

15-Apr-2003
At Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo, August 5. Sri Lanka won by eight wickets. Toss: Bangladesh.
Resuming at the same ground the next day, Bangladesh chose to bat again - but hit a new nadir when they were bowled out for 76, their lowest total in all international cricket. Their previous low in one-day games was 87 against Pakistan, and in Tests 90 against Sri Lanka in September 2001. Extras was the top-scorer, the 23rd such instance in one-day internationals, though Khaled Masud batted an hour before he was last out for 15. All the home bowlers had handsome figures, and Muralitharan's one wicket was his 279th at this level, edging him back past Shane Warne into fourth place in the all-time list. Sri Lanka knocked off the runs inside 16 overs; the entire match lasted less than 46.
Man of the Match: C. R. D. Fernando.
