Before Hales in this series, the others to achieve this were Kane Williamson, against India in 2014, and Yasir Hameed, against New Zealand in 2003. Those were home series for New Zealand and Pakistan, which makes Hales' effort the first such feat in an overseas ODI series.

383 Hales' series aggregate, the highest by any England batsman in a bilateral ODI series of five or fewer matches. The second highest is also from this series - Joe Root's 351.

12.80 Eoin Morgan's average in this series, the second lowest by an England captain in an ODI series/ tournament in which he played at least five innings. The lowest is Michael Vaughan's average of 9.40 in five innings in the NatWest Series in 2004. Morgan is in illustrious company, though: the next three captains in this list are Stewart (average 13.16), Gooch (14.40), and Mike Gatting (14.75).

4 Centuries in defeats in this series; only once in any bilateral series have there been more hundreds in defeats: earlier this year, there were seven centuries in defeats in the five-match series between Australia and India, which Australia won 4-1.
