4 Instances of teams coming back from the 2-0 deficit to win a bilateral ODI series. South Africa have done it once before, in Pakistan in 2003, while the two other instances are by Bangladesh against Zimbabwe (3-2), and Pakistan versus India (4-2), both in 2005.
24 ODI hundreds for AB de Villiers; with each innings coming at a 100-plus strike rate. Of his 24 hundreds, 20 have come in wins, one in a no-result, and only three in defeats.
112 Alex Hales' score, his highest in ODIs, going past his previous best of 109, against Pakistan in November last year. Both his hundreds have come in his last eight ODI innings, a period when he has scored 544 runs at an average of 68; in his first 20 ODI innings, he made 418 runs at an average of 20.90.
5-0 South Africa's ODI record against England in Cape Town. Overall, they have an extremely impressive 26-5 win-loss record here.
11 Century partnerships between Hashim Amla and de Villiers in ODIs, which equals the South African record: Herschelle Gibbs and Graeme Smith had 11 century stands too, but in 84 innings, compared to just 37 innings for Amla and de Villiers. Overall, only eight pairs have more century stands in ODIs.
81.45 The average partnership in ODIs between Amla and de Villiers. Among pairs who have put together at least 1000 partnership runs, their average is the highest.
5 England batsmen who have made five successive scores of 50 or more in ODIs - Hales is the latest to join this group. Geoff Boycott, Graham Gooch, Alec Stewart and Jonathan Trott are the others. No England batsman has more than five such scores in succession. (Click here for the full list of batsmen with four or more consecutive 50-plus scores in ODIs.)
3 Batsmen who have scored 50 or more in each innings of a bilateral ODI series of five or more matches. Before Hales in this series, the others to achieve this were Kane Williamson, against India in 2014, and Yasir Hameed, against New Zealand in 2003. Those were home series for New Zealand and Pakistan, which makes Hales' effort the first such feat in an overseas ODI series.
383 Hales' series aggregate, the highest by any England batsman in a bilateral ODI series of five or fewer matches. The second highest is also from this series - Joe Root's 351.
12.80 Eoin Morgan's average in this series, the second lowest by an England captain in an ODI series/ tournament in which he played at least five innings. The lowest is Michael Vaughan's average of 9.40 in five innings in the NatWest Series in 2004. Morgan is in illustrious company, though: the next three captains in this list are Stewart (average 13.16), Gooch (14.40), and Mike Gatting (14.75).
4 Centuries in defeats in this series; only once in any bilateral series have there been more hundreds in defeats: earlier this year, there were seven centuries in defeats in the five-match series between Australia and India, which Australia won 4-1.
