Barbados move to first place with three-day win

Barbados displaced table leaders Jamaica on the top with a six-wicket win over Combined Campuses and Colleges on day three in Crab Hill. Kirk Edwards scored an unbeaten half-century, which included six fours and two sixes, as Barbados needed just 30.5 overs to knock off the 111 required. But it was Kemar Roach's career-best four-wicket haul that gave the batsmen a modest target to chase. CCC were struggling at 128 for 5 overnight and Roach dismissed Floyd Reifer early on day three to set the collapse in motion - the last three wickets falling for one run. Barbados suffered some scares when opening bowler Kevin McClean picked up three top-order wickets with only 24 on the board. But Edwards calmed things down with a 72-run stand with Rohan Nurse before wrapping up the game shortly after tea.

Trinidad & Tobago will hope to push for a win against the Leeward Islands on Monday in St Augustine which will take them to third place on the points table. T&T extended their lead to 229 on day three and will look to bowl Leewards out cheaply for a second time in the game. In the 25 overs before lunch, Adrian Barath and Daren Ganga took T&T to 101 for 1 after which mid-day showers ruled out possibility of play. Gavin Tonge, who picked up six wickets in the first innings, dismissed opener Justin Guillen cheaply. Barath (52*) and Ganga (31*) batted out the remaining overs in an unbeaten 79-run stand. With scattered showers forecast for Monday, Ganga, the T&T captain, could declare early - setting Leewards a target of 250 - at the sight of an outright win.

Jamaica need one wicket to get a first-innings lead against Guyana in a match headed for a draw at the Providence Stadium. But the six points they will get for the lead will not be enough to take back their top spot from Barbados, who are sitting on 51 after beating CCC. However Jamaica can hope to catch up, having played a game less than Barbados. A maiden first-class century by No. 8 batsman Derwin Christian prevented Jamaica from taking the lead on day three, a situation they would have expected when they reduced Guyana to 94 for 5. Christian was helped in his efforts by Travis Dowlin, who remained unbeaten on 71 at stumps. Their 163-run stand took Guyana close to the 300-run mark and he will have to farm most of the strike on the final day if his side has to have any hope of overhauling Jamaica's 441. Guyana are currently at the bottom of the table with losses in all their four matches.
