Central Districts registered their second win of the competition at New Plymouth to climb to the top after beatin Canterbury. Canterbury's 198 turned up way short, with Central Districts romping to the win with more than 18 overs remaining thanks to Ross Taylor's 95.
Otago beat Auckland easily at Eden Park, leaving four teams with two wins in the first three matches. Opener Aaron Redmond's century took them to 292 for 8. It was his first one-day domestic ton, and his 109 came from 108 balls. In reply, Auckland gave game chase but were never really in the hunt, coming up short by 39 runs.
Northern Districts opened their account after losing the first two matches thanks to twin centuries by BJ Watling and Daniel Flynn. The pair boosted their side to 299 which Wellington never looked like getting close to, particularly when they stuttered to 4 for 77, and they finally pulled up 50 runs short at Cobham Oval.
